eCLIQ safeguards critical infrastructure in Upper Austria

eCLIQ locking system

For more than 100 years, K. u. F. Drack has been closely associated to the Almtal valley in Upper Austria and its inhabitants. The family company, which is now being managed by its fourth gen-eration, is an expert contact for all things energy, electrotechnology, metal and wood, thanks to its many years of experience. The top priority in this is the cautious and respectful interaction with nature, fellow people and the environment.
Through the years, the company, which began in 1899 as a simple sawmill, has grown into a successful operating site. Thanks to the consist-ent expansion of the power grid as well as further company fields, the company has become an important local supplier in the region.

The generation of electricity from hydropower takes place with nine small hydroelectric power plants along the Alm. Across an approx. 130 km pipeline network with 45 transformer stations, currently around 1,800 households, 100 agri-cultural and 300 commercial businesses as well as 12 industrial consumers are supplied with electrical energy.
When choosing a new locking solution, along-side the security aspect, the focus was on flexibility in installation and use. Furthermore, the system should involve as little maintenance as possible.

With the eCLIQ master key system, the KFD chose a security solution by ASSA ABLOY that can be expanded, combined and retrofitted  according to individual requirements of the supply company.
eCLIQ is easy to operate and programme for many reasons. For instance, system adminis-trators do not need to activate every locking cylinder individually in order to replace batteries. The power supply and communication with the cylinder are conducted via keys and program-ming keys only. The CLIQ technology enables a higher level of security and allows access author-isations to be granted flexibly. If a key gets lost, the locking authorisation is simply deleted from the locking system.
